Picton Street Fayre 2022

The annual Picton Street Fayre was back in 2022 after a two year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Lord Mayor officially opened the event at 12pm on Saturday 10th December. The street was bursting with stalls selling locally-made goodies for Christmas shopping and the music stage hosted a lovely selection of live music for the public to enjoy and dance to.
The community-led event raised a record breaking £4000 for local charities BOSH and Trauma Southwest through the sales of mulled drinks at the bar.
“Trauma Foundation South West (TFSW) are hugely grateful for the donation of £2,000 raised at Picton Street Christmas Fayre. This money will make it possible for specialised TFSW psychotherapists and counsellors to provide 48 life-changing one-to-one weekly therapy sessions for traumatised refugees or asylum seekers, with interpreters.
TFSW clients are deeply traumatised by war, persecution, torture, physical hardship and multiple losses - of homeland, family, career, community and culture. Such extreme trauma often results in a range of mental health difficulties and disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), clinical depression, anxiety states, psychosomatic disorders and sometimes psychotic states.
TFSW’s specialist, long-term psychotherapy/counselling helps people rebuild mentally through being heard, believed and supported. Your generosity will make a real difference.
Thank you.
Thanks to everyone that came down and supported, the amazing volunteers that organized and participated in the event and to all those who got involved to help make this such a wonderful, memorable success!
